English Learners
Teaching English Learners (ELs) is a challenge. In secondary schools the students are immersed in academic content and usually have to learn the language as they are learning the content. A mainstream teacher might have several different ELs in his or her class and they could all be at different levels of English language proficiency. It is difficult to know how to differentiate for each one. This website is intended to help mainstream teachers differentiate for their ELs. Please email me if you have a suggestion for this site. One really great comprehensive web site for ESL teachers and students is Larry Ferlazzo's site. Look in his archives of "best sites for ESL in the content areas". VERY helpful!
