MAP Assessment

MAP is a diagnostic tool to help the teacher know what areas in reading and math that the students need help with.  Once the teacher knows what gaps each student has, she/ he can plan instruction with this in mind.  This is also helpful for the ESL student, however, they might know more than the MAP score shows.  One reason is that a single word in a question can be confusing and make them not understand what is being asked.  In this case, it is good to go over the necessary vocabulary for their RIT range.  (which can be found on the NWEA website)  Below are some resources:
